Practice yoga nidra bi-weekly with Heather Larson, a yoga teacher who loves to help you achieve deep rest. Take time for yourself to rest, relax, and reset. Free every other week right here.

Yoga nidra is yogic sleep. Not only is this a powerful way to relax, it's like getting a 4-hour nap in 30 minutes. Yoga nidra is evidence-based and used by institutions like the VA to help people recover from PTSD. (Only the VA sanitizes it, removing the Sanksrit terms, by utilizing a program called iRest).

Heather is an RYT-200 who loves to teach trauma-informed yoga and help her students to get more out of yoga than merely the poses on the mat. She doesn't sanitize the pracitce of yoga nidra. She brings traditional, authentic yoga to her students, and now, you.

In yoga nidra, you will set a Sankalpa, or intention. If the word "intention" doesn't resonate with you, think of the Sankalpa as an affirmation stated in the positive as if it's something you already have. For example, "I am at peace." You can also think of a Sankalpa as a vow, promise, or resolve.

Yoga nidra allows you to set your Sankalpa and lay it into your subconscious in a powerful way. You don't have to have one to begin. It may come to you later.

You can rest or fall asleep in yoga nidra, but you don't have to! You can tell yourself, "I won't fall asleep" if you'd prefer to stay awake in the practice. Don't judge yourself whether you do or don't fall asleep.

Yoga nidra is best practiced in stillness, but if you need to make adjustments, you're more than welcome to do so. Give your body what it needs.

If complete stillness is tough for you, give yourself credit for showing up and do what you need to do for your body.

Take this time for you. Block out distractions. Close a door. Find a comfortable space. You can be sitting or lying down. If you have an eye pillow or sleep mask, those can really help you relax, surrender, and let go.

Your experience is up to you, Heather is merely your guide. If you feel uncomfortable at any point, you may disregard the instructions and return to your breath or something that comforts you. This is NOT hypnotherapy. Think of this as the place between awake and asleep, where your intention can flourish.

Wishing you much happy resting. For more, visit DestinyArchitecture.net.
